Daily care
- —Wipe your leather goods with a soft, dry cloth at the end of each day to remove dust, oils, and light debris.
- —Avoid storing leather in plastic bags — leather needs to breathe. Use the dust bag we ship with every order, or a cotton pillowcase.
- —Keep leather away from sharp objects that could scratch the surface, especially in pockets with keys or coins.
02
Cleaning
- —For light stains, use a barely-damp cloth and gently blot — do not rub. Allow to air dry naturally at room temperature.
- —For stubborn marks, use a specialist leather cleaner. Test on an inconspicuous area first.
- —Never use household cleaners, alcohol wipes, or baby wipes — these strip the natural oils from the leather and cause cracking.
03
Conditioning
- —Condition every 3–6 months with a high-quality leather conditioner (we recommend Leather Honey or Chamberlain's Leather Milk).
- —Apply a small amount with a soft cloth in circular motions. Let it absorb for 30 minutes, then buff with a clean cloth.
- —Conditioning prevents the leather from drying out, keeps it supple, and feeds the grain for the long haul.
04
Water & weather
- —Full-grain leather has natural water resistance, but is not waterproof. If your piece gets wet, blot dry immediately and air dry at room temperature.
- —Never use a hair dryer or place near a heat source — this stiffens and cracks the leather.
- —For extra protection, apply a leather waterproofing spray (Kiwi Camp Dry, Apple Garde) at the start of each season.
05
The patina — embrace it
- —Full-grain leather develops a patina over time — a deepening of colour and character that makes your piece uniquely yours.
- —The oils from your hands, slight weathering, and daily use all contribute. It is not wear, it is a feature.
- —A well-maintained Royal piece looks better at 10 years than it did on day one. That is the promise of full-grain leather.
